That Vangoa one I'm sure is the exact model I have. Found mine for cheap in a pawn shop though :L Had good luck with instruments in pawn shops. Got hold of a brand new Fender acoustic with all the plastic wrap still on; unwanted Christmas present I suspect. Kinda wish I'd gotten all those extras though, only got the bag with mine.

Fantastic to see Frank on Mandolin Mondays. Wonderful playing .

With headphones it's easy to hear that the 3R has almost no string noise, with the CT55 being a distant second in that regard. A while back I bought some triangular Clayton picks, but I decided they were too thin. I've been gluing them together with epoxy, reshaping, and beveling them by hand. I'm not a great player, but the process of shaping the picks has taught me a lot about tone. They end up costing about $1.25 a piece.

How do you feel about the Ibanez F 522s? I have one coming tomorrow. I was leaning into the Loar for $400...but at the last moment, I caved. Musicians friend was offering 15% off list, and didnt have the Honey Creek. Sooo.. Is there THAT much of a diff between the two, in your opinion? I watched your comparisson video.

RIGHT ON! I play 9 instruments...mando coming tomoreow will be 10. Not sure thats a good mando foe you. Check into a more $$ Mando...I think its not giving you what you want...Buy for $99 with case? Yeah.. Go check out the Loar mando at $399. Your playing will improve 100x GOOD LUCK!!

Great video. It's amazing how much young people are pushing the boundaries of musical performance. The Peace Center is a great venue. It's named after Mr. Bony Peace, publisher of the Greenville News in the early 1900s. FWIW, the building in the background at 6:30 is part of the Governor's School for the Arts.

What Wyatt has got in a handful of years I’ve not been able pick up in decades, it’s enough to (almost) make me hand up my mandolin and settle for just listening to great music. I just never figured out how some people play with that level of fluidity and ease, that mandolin really sings.

Thanks! Great stuff. A general question you might have already covered somewhere: All of these top notch players have a lot of speed and clean picking. Do they set their mandos up with low action or what do you recommend?

Wyatt is so talented and well spoken beyond his years! Watching his progress on the Internet has been inspiring! Motivates me to stop making excuses for why I don't play/ learn enough.

Wyatt moves his right arm mainly from his wrist, David from his elbow. I’m sure personal style/preference determine which joint is used to move the pick. Please share your thoughts on this.
